Browns Todd Monken has big thoughts on the current defensive system

· Yahoo Sports

The Cleveland Browns introduced their new head coach, Todd Monken, on Tuesday, and he spoke to the media for the first time. One of the biggest questions surrounding the team right now is the fate of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and whether or not he will remain with the team after Cleveland chose Monken over him.

Monken said he didn't want to get into personnel and that Schwartz would return, calling it inappropriate in this setting, but he did make an interesting comment about the defense as a whole. What he did say was that he doesn't want to change the defensive scheme or system currently in place.

Monken said the roster is built for the system and also discussed how difficult it is to play against this scheme and how it works. This is an interesting comment because if they don't bring Schwartz back, it could mean that the team hires someone internal to keep things in place.
