Senne Lammens has not taken long to settle in at Manchester United. The club moved quickly to bring him over from Belgium, and he has already looked the part early on at Old Trafford.

The club took a chance by choosing to sign Lammens for £18 million instead of more established names like Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Belgian shot-stopper has wasted no time making an impression on his new teammates. And by all accounts, he has also been surprised by just how much quality there is around him in the dressing room.

Lammens has probably found himself on a list of underrated players at Manchester United. He came in without much fanfare and quickly showed he could handle the step up to the Premier League.

Speaking to PlaySportsBelgium, though, the 23-year-old named Amad Diallo as the most underrated player at the club, saying he has been taken aback by what Amad brings to the squad.

He also highlighted captain Bruno Fernandes, mentioning that nobody else does more outrageous things on the training pitch than him.

While Amad’s stats this season – two goals and three assists – do not jump off the page, they do not fully capture how important he has become to Michael Carrick’s side.

He was previously described as an ‘ideal’ wing-back by former boss Ruben Amorim. Since then, Carrick has pushed him higher up the pitch into a more attacking role, where he seems to be flourishing.

Amad Diallo’s impact is growing at Manchester United

Lammens is right: Amad is underrated. But that is changing as more people start to realise just how important he is to this United squad.

Louis Saha has even called him ‘unbelievable’, and the Ivory Coast international has not shown any signs of slowing down.

United struggled over the AFCON period without Bryan Mbeumo and Amad, but since their return, the side has looked much stronger.

Carrick now seems to have figured out how to get the best out of both players, with Mbeumo often playing as a striker in the 4-2-3-1 set-up.

At 23, Amad still has time on his side, and there are plenty of reasons to believe he can reach his full potential.

The right-wing position used to be an issue for United, but with him and Mbeumo around, it has become one of their biggest strengths.
