Speaking about Drake Maye’s path to becoming the New England Patriots quarterback, Ian Rapoport detailed how strongly the organization valued him during the draft process.
Rapoport said the Patriots were presented with significant trade offers for the third overall pick but refused to move back because of their conviction.
“We know by now that the Patriots had significant offers to move on from the #3 pick, collect picks and build from there. They did not want to go anywhere. They believed that Drake Maye was worthy of the #1 overall selection. That is why they took him when he fell to them at #3.”
