Following the best back-to-back performances by a Louisville player in ages (ever?), Mikel Brown Jr. has been named the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Week, as well as the ACC Player and Rookie of the Week.

Brown began the week by dropping 45 points in a 41-point win over NC State. The performance tied the record for most points in a game by a Louisville player, and broke the ACC record for most points in a game by a freshman. Additionally, Brown’s 10 made three-pointers tied the school record and he also became the first D-I player in over 30 years to record at least 45 points, 10 made threes and 9 rebounds in a single game.

On Saturday against Baylor, Brown was nearly as good. He led Louisville with 29 points on 8 of 14 shooting, and also went 4 of 5 from long range with six assists, five steals and three rebounds.

Over Louisville’s two victories, Brown averaged an astounding 37.0 points per game to go along with an average of 4.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals, all while shooting 59.5% from the floor and 66.7% beyond the arc. He knocked down 16 of 16 free throws as well, shooting 100% from the charity stripe.

I’m not sure if a Louisville player has ever had two better back-to-back games.
