Feb. 21—VESTAVIA HILLS — Jesi Chittam doubled three times and drove in two runs as Hartselle opened the Red and Blue Classic at Vestavia Hills with a 10-2 win over West Blocton in softball on Friday.

Hatsumi Peterson had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Tigers, while Amelia Fox added two hits and one RBI. Abigail Kubica pitched two innings to pick up the win, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.

Hartselle 7, Gulf Shores 6: Ryley Cate Wolf singled twice and drove in three runs for Hartselle on Friday.

Peterson had a solo homer for the Tigers and Aubree Peak pitched four innings of relief for the win.

Austin 3, Wicksburg 2: Austin scored on a Wicksburg error in the bottom of the fifth inning to pick up a win in Vestavia Hills on Friday.

Charlie Barnes homered, singled and drove in a run for the Black Bears and Arden Breedlove had a solo homer. Evelyn Lamb pitched all five innings for the win, striking out three.

Tuscaloosa County 10, Austin 8: Barnes had a triple and two RBIs for Austin. Marissa Adams and Rebecca Horn had one hit and two RBIs each for the Black Bears.

James Clemens 5, Ardmore 4: Tynlee Mitchell singled and drove in two runs for Ardmore on Friday.

Kadence Williams had three hits and one RBI for the Tigers, while Brenley Dempsey added two hits and one RBI.

Vestavia Hills 2, Ardmore 1: Piper Abbott doubled and drove in a run for Ardmore against host Vestavia Hills on Friday.

Grissom 7, Decatur 6: Jazlyn Jackson doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Decatur on Friday.

Luna Gutierrez drove in two runs for the Red Raiders, while Brisa Tabarez added one RBI.

Bryson Jeffreys homered and drove in four runs for the Hornets, while Nick Borden added a solo home run. John Oliver had two hits and four RBIs and Jalen Heaps added three hits and one RBI.

Jeffreys pitched 3 2/3 innings for the win, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out seven.
