PEORIA, Ill. — Metamora, Pontiac and Illini Bluffs punched their tickets to the girls basketball sectional round with regional championships on Friday.
Baylie Nena scored 19 points to lead Metamora to a 62-28 win over Morris in the class 3A regional title game the redbirds hosted. Metamora earned its first regional championship since 2010 and will play at the Galesburg sectional Tuesday.

Pontiac beat Monticello, 38-35, to win the class 2A Fairbury regional. Pontiac, which won its first regional title 2009, advances to play at the sectional which it will host Tuesday.
Illini Bluffs defeated host Elmwood, 49-41, to win a class 1A regional. The Tigers, who were led by Anabelle Reimer’s 12 points, advance to the Macomb sectional next week.
Boys basketball winners on Friday included Normal Community, Morton, Dunlap, Dee-Mack, Tremont, LeRoy, and North Fulton.
At the state wrestling meet, five area wrestlers advanced to the state finals matches on Saturday. Olympia’s Connor Collins (106 pounds), Canton’s Connor Williams (285), Washington’s Wyatt Medlin (165) and Josh Hofer (215) and Morton’s Harrison Dea (132) won their semifinal matches Friday to move into Saturday night’s championship round at State Farm Center in Champaign.
