2 Toronto men charged with extortion, kidnapping; Man charged in Ajax stabbing

Two men from Toronto are facing numerous charges in connection with a kidnapping and extortion probe in Ajax.
Durham Regional Police said on Oct. 25, the victim who provides transportation services was contacted to take two individuals from Ajax to Montreal. The victim was scheduled to meet the two men at a prearranged location. Upon arrival, police said three males forced the victim into another vehicle while making threats with a firearm.

Cops said the victim was driven to an ATM where he was allegedly forced to withdraw cash for the suspects.
The victim was later released by the suspects and did not suffer any physical injuries.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, police, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, executed search warrants at three residences in Toronto.
Two of the three suspects were found and taken into custody without incident
Victor Antonio Nunex Ceja, 32, was charged with kidnapping, extortion, robbery, point firearm, and occupy motor vehicle and firearm.
Jose Emmanuel Gonzalez Villa, 32, was charged with kidnapping, extortion, robbery, point firearm, and occupy motor vehicle with firearm.
Both were held for a bail hearing.

Man charged following Ajax stabbing
A 33-year-old without a fixed address is facing charges including fail to comply with probation order after a man was stabbed in Ajax.
Durham Regional Police said officers responded last Friday around 5:55 a.m. to an armed person call at the Christian Faith Outreach Centre at 158 Harwood Ave. S.
Cops said two men were involved in a verbal altercation when one of them brandished an edged weapon and allegedly stabbed the other.
Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, who was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Patrick Bless Evbuomwan was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault, possess weapon dangerous, and fail to comply with probation order.

Toronto man charged with fraud in Durham Region
A 20-year-old Toronto man has been charged with fraud with help from Durham Regional Police’s Help Solve a Crime program.
Police said on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, officers responded to a fraud call at a Best Buy store at 20 Kingston Rd. W. in Ajax.
Cops said a man entered the business and tried to buy several items using counterfeit money. The suspect fled the area when staff determined the bills were counterfeit.
On Wednesday, Feb. 18, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.
Barbod Hoveidapour was charged with fraud under $5,000, and utter counterfeit money.
He was released on an undertaking.
