Basketball is back on top.
Bowlers stole the spotlight in Monroe County Region Athlete of the Week voting for Feb. 16-22 with Maggie Smith of Milan and St. Mary Catholic Central’s Chloe Orris finishing 1-2.

Basketball got the bounce for the Feb. 23-March 1 award with a trio of hoopsters finishing on top of the poll.
New Boston Huron’s Elle Huffman was tops with 5,612 votes followed by Austin Nowak of State Line Christian with 3,700 and Dundee’s Ava Johnson with 2,395.
Smith made a bid for back-to-back titles, taking fourth with 1,350.

You can now make your choice for the March 2-8 winner. Polls will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
Here are the credentials for the candidates in alphabetical order.
Jaelyn Barath, Jefferson girls basketball: Led the Bears with 15 points in a District game.
Donny Beaufait, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 165 pounds.
Emily Bladen, Milan girls basketball: Reached 1,000 career points in final game of junior season.
Braden Broderick, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 144 pounds.
Jennah Cadle, Monroe girls basketball: Closed her high school career with 19 points in a District game.
Blake Cosby, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 157 pounds.
Cole Griffith, Whiteford boys basketball: Led the Bobcats with 10 points in a Regional game against Onsted.
Mason Haines, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 120 pounds.
JR Hess, Dundee boys swimming: Won the 50-yard freesytle and backstroke in the SMISL White championships.
Madleen Hussein, Flat Rock girls basketball: Set a school record with 12 steals to go along with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in District semifinals.
Mason Katschor, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 132 pounds.
Olivia Kemp, Airport wrestling: Won the girls state championship at 190 pounds.
David Mills, Erie Mason-Ida boys swimming: Won the 200 and 500-yard freestyle and swam on a winning relay in the SMISL White championships.
Macy Ovall, Whiteford girls basketball: Netted a career-high 18 points in a District victory.
Rocco Redmon, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 215 pounds.
Stone Redmon, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 150 pounds.
Alli Schrader, Ida girls basketball: Scored 19 points as the Blue Streaks avenged two earlier losses to Dundee.
Braxton Shaffer, Ida wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 113 pounds with four pins.
Owen Snyder, Ida boys basketball: Connected on all seven of his free throws in fourth quarter of Ida’s first Regional victory since 1965. Finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Led the Blue Streaks with 9 points in the finals.
Brody St. John, Summerfield boys basketball: Rang up 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in Summerfield’s first Regional win since 1964. Added a team-high 13 points in the finals.
Bryan Sterling, Dundee wrestling: Won the Division 3 state championship at 126 pounds.
Zoie Stubleski, Erie Mason girls basketball: Hit a game-winning shot as part of a 19-point, 11-rebound performance then added 15 points in District semifinals.
