GUN SPOTTED AT HAMILTON EATERY, MAN ARRESTED
A 19-year-old man is facing several firearm charges and is also accused of not abiding by a court order after a gun was spotted in a Hamilton restaurant Thursday night.
Hamilton Police said officers responded at approximately 9:15 p.m. for a report of individuals believed to be in possession of a firearm inside a fast-food restaurant on Centennial Pkwy. N.
According to police, the report indicated the firearm had become visible while the male was inside the restaurant, which caused concern among diners.
When cops arrived at the eatery, they located two individuals who matched the descriptions provided and safely detained the pair for a weapons investigation.
During a safety search of the male, police said officers allegedly found a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. The firearm, a Glock-style handgun with an extended magazine, contained 20 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber, cops added.
The man was arrested and the firearm, ammunition, and a cellphone were seized, police said.
Jesse Murie was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited loaded firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police said at the time of the arrest, the accused was bound by a court-ordered undertaking prohibiting him from possessing firearms, ammunition, or related devices.
The second individual who was initially arrested during the investigation was released unconditionally, cops said.
The firearm, magazine, and ammunition will undergo further forensic examination, police added.
