Oshawa man busted in shooting under gun prohibition order

A 23-year-old Oshawa man arrested in connection with a Peterborough shooting earlier this month was under court order not to possess any weapons.

Chevron “Chevy” Millwood is bound by a prohibition order issued in 2024 prohibiting him from possessing any firearm, any crossbow, restricted weapon, ammo, and explosive substance for a period of 10 years.

Millwood is also barred from possessing any prohibited or restricted firearm, weapon, device, or ammunition for life.

Yet Peterborough Police say that around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday officers from their Service Investigative Services Unit, with the assistance of the Durham Regional Police Service Tactical Response Team, conducted a search warrant at a residence in the Simcoe St. S. and Wellington Rd. area of Oshawa and arrested Millwood for a shooting.

Cops allegedly found loaded gun

Officers allegedly seized a loaded gun with Millwood’s belongings.

He is charged with two counts of attempted murder using a firearm; robbery using a firearm; unauthorized possession of a Weapon along with a slew of other weapons-related charges.

According to cops, on March 8 around 4 p.m., officers were called to at an apartment at 701 George St. N., just south of Parkhill Rd., after receiving reports of a shooting. Investigation revealed the shooting was allegedly connected to the drug subculture and that a Peterborough couple had been the victims of a robbery.

During the robbery there was a physical confrontation, and a 39-year-old Peterborough woman was shot. She was airlifted to a Toronto hospital for treatment.

A 47-year-old Peterborough man was not injured.

Second suspect still sought

The two bandits fled the scene.

“I am very proud of the work of our Investigative team over the past week and a half. The long hours and thoroughness of the investigation has resulted in the arrest of the person believed to have used the firearm in our community, compromising the safety of our residents,” Peterborough Police C hief Stuart Betts said in a statement released Thursday.

“This suspect already has a conviction for armed robbery involving a firearm and we are asking he be held in custody. We are thankful that the shooting victim is continuing to recover from their injuries and will continue to search for the second suspect involved in this incident.”

The second suspect is described as a skinny Black male who was wearing a black jacket, grey hoodie with the hood up, grey toque, grey backpack, and black shoes with blue soles
