Tyrese Maxey details his equation with Lakers legend LeBron James. Fallon and Maxey exchanged courteous pleasantries and discussed the latter’s experience of moving from Texas to Philadelphia. The player revealed how he became a team leader for the 76ers and how that experience is going for him. At the 2-minute 20-second mark, Fallon broached the topic of Lakers legend James.
Fallon asked, “Do you get nervous? When you first start out, and you are like, you are playing up against like LeBron James?” Maxy asked, “Nervous?” to which Fallon replied, “Yeah!” The point guard clarified, “No, I don’t think I would be like nervous.”
The talk-show host quickly asked, “Did you geek out and be like, ‘Oh my gosh’?” Maxey chuckled and responded, “After the game. When I’m in the game, it’s like, ‘I got to cook these people,’ it’s my job,” making Fallon erupt in roaring laughter.
The host fished out a candid snap of Maxey aiming to score a basket in an All-Star game against James. Fallon asked, “Have you gotten to know him, though?” Maxey replied, “Yeah. You know, it’s actually funny. He’s actually somebody who’s actually become really close to me. Like in the summertime, we have this little thing when we work out, like at 6 in the morning.”
He continued, “The first time it happened, I got there like at 5:45. I was there before him. Then he gets there at 5:30, and I try to get there at 5:15. The last time he got there at five. When I got there, he was in full sweat. I was like, ‘You know what? You win, you win.'” Judging by their laughter and enthusiasm, the studio audience and Fallon enjoyed Maxey’s anecdote about James.
Fallon’s team shared the clip on their official X account. One fan commented, “This rivalry is peak commitment energy lol. Maxey and LeBron always bring the drama to workouts.” A second fan wrote, “Such a fun interview!”
