Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani wants his teammates to be prompt for the the team’s upcoming three-peat in the World Series. As the Dodgers prepared to open the season Thursday night, each player found a gift from Ohtani sitting in their locker.

That gift was a $4,000 Seiko watch and a note that read, “Let’s three-peat,” per multiple reports.

It wasn’t the only gift Dodgers players received. Manager Dave Roberts also gave each player on the team a bottle of Traveller whiskey.

For Ohtani, the gift is … well … timely, as he just announced a new partnership with Seiko, a Japanese watch brand, in mid-March.

World Series hero Miguel Rojas spoke about Ohtani’s gift, calling the two-way star a “kind” person, per MLB.com.

"That talks a lot about what kind of human he is, not just on the field but off the field," second baseman Miguel Rojas said. "He cares about the community in L.A. I know that watch, we’re going to keep it forever, and we’re going to remember the best player in the world gave us a watch for Opening Day in 2026."

As for Ohtani’s note, the Dodgers got out to a strong start there Thursday. While it took the team a few innings to figure out Arizona Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen, the Dodgers eventually found their timing at the plate. The team scored four runs on Gallen in the fifth, chasing him from the game. The Dodgers then had another four-run inning in the seventh, eventually winning the contest 8-2.

Every member of the Dodgers appeared to get Ohtani’s message before the game, as the entire starting lineup reached base in the contest. First baseman Freddie Freeman was the only Dodgers starter without a hit, though he did walk. Newly-acquired outfielder Kyle Tucker smacked an RBI double and Will Smith and Andy Pages each hit home runs in the victory.

Ohtani finished the contest 1-for-3, with a walk and a run scored.

Winning a third straight World Series won’t be easy. The feat has only been accomplished four times in MLB history. The last franchise to pull it off was the New York Yankees, which won three-straight titles between 1998 and 2000.

The Dodgers should have a pretty good shot at becoming the fifth team to pull off a three-peat. While anything can happen in the playoffs, the team is loaded after adding Tucker in the offseason.

They proved as much with a dominant win on Opening Day.
