It has been a news-heavy week for the Kentucky Wildcats, as the offseason has officially begun for the men’s basketball team. With two coaches now leaving in Jason Hart and Alvin Brooks, not only will Mark Pope have to worry about roster construction, he will have to replace two assistant coaches.

That is why some good news on the recruiting trail was needed, as the Cats picked up their first commitment of the 2026 class in Mason Williams.

A 4-star point guard recruit, he fits the mold of a player who could be special in college basketball after several years of development. Alongside that is the family pedigree, as Mason is the son of former NBA standout Mo Williams. This could be a great late find in the 2026 class.

On the women’s basketball side, they will be appearing in their first Sweet 16 since 2016 this afternoon as they face off with the Texas Longhorns in Fort Worth.

Texas has been awesome all season, but in their lone matchup in the regular season, the Cats played them as well as anyone has all year. Will that continue today in Fort Worth? It will be a tough one, but this UK team has proven when healthy they are much better than their seed line.

Should be a fun one. Go Cats!
