Broncos projected to make ‘surprise trade’ with Saints

· Yahoo Sports

The Denver Broncos have already made one trade this offseason, acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. Could more moves be on the way?

After the early wave of NFL free agency, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton published a list of seven hypothetical "surprise" trades that could happen this spring. One of them involves Denver.

Moton's list of mock trades included the New Orleans Saints sending Alvin Kamara to the Broncos, reuniting the running back with coach Sean Payton. Moton did not include hypothetical terms for a trade, but it's hard to imagine the Saints commanding more than a late-round pick swap with Kamara set to turn 31 this summer, entering the final year of his contract.

ESPN has reported that NFL teams are monitoring Kamara's status after New Orleans signed running back Travis Etienne during free agency. Kamara has said he would rather retire than play for a team other than the Saints, but if there's one coach that could change his mind, it might be Payton.

If Kamara is traded, a move likely wouldn't happen until after June 1 for salary cap purposes. For now, talk of a potential Kamara trade is merely speculation. But the running back's status will be worth tracking going into the summer.
