There isn’t a lot to say in this instance.

Gary Woodland won the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday and in the process stepped into the winner’s circle for the first time since the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Woodland has been through a lot since, to say the least, then as he had brain surgery to remove a tumor.

Woodland’s brain surgery took place in September of 2023 and he recently, just a few weeks ago, sat down for an interview to discuss how he has been dealing with PTSD as a result of it all. It is well worth your time.

Gary spoke about the interview earlier this week in Houston and noted how he felt relief from discussing what he has been dealing with.

I literally feel like I got a thousand pounds off my back that day…”

It was hard to do. I was crying going into the interview and I left feeling a thousand pounds lighter. I have a battle that I’m fighting, but it’s nice to not do that alone, I can tell you that. We’ll take it one day at a time and continue to get better. But the TOUR out here is a family and they’ve been amazing. The golf world’s been amazing and I’m very thankful.”

To say that the world is happy for Gary is also an extreme understatement. He has long been a fan favorite on the PGA Tour and many have been rooting for him throughout these times.

Woodland cleared the field in Houston by five full strokes so there was no doubt about about this in any kind of capacity.

Notably, Woodland secured a spot in the Masters Tournament a couple of weeks from now as a result of the win.

Congratulations to Gary Woodland and his entire family. Surely this means a lot to them.
