One of hockey fans' favorite events to view during a game is a fight. And there's only one thing better than a fight:
A goalie fight.
New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils fans in attendance on Tuesday night's rivalry game at Madison Square Garden were lucky enough to view that. While the Rangers led 4-1 in the third period, NJ Devil Paul Cotter made contact with Shesterkin in the Ranger goalie's crease. This led many Rangers to jump all over Cotter, as contact with a team's goalie virtually always results in extracurriculars.
After seeing this from the other side of the ice, Devils goalie Jakob Markstrom didn't want to be excluded and skated down the length of the ice to lock onto Shesterkin. Here is the rundown from the goalie brawl, along with some recent goalie fights in the NHL.

Sheskerkin was involved in a bigger fight behind his goal involving most other players on ice while the Rangers led 4-1. Markstrom left his posts and skated across the ice to meet Shesterkin for tonight's goaltender-versus-goaltender bout.

What started fight between Igor Shesterkin, Jacob Markstrom?
At the 9:24 mark of the third period, NJ Devil Paul Cotter came into Shesterkin's crease to make a play and knocked the Ranger goalie down.
A large fight began, including Shesterkin going at Cotter for the physicality. Devil goalie Markstrom didn't want Shesterkin taking things too far with his players, and the goalie skated down the length of the ice to fight two of the most heavily-padded men on the ice.
