Mumbai: Tata Motors has closed FY26 with strong momentum in its commercial vehicles business, as demand recovery in the second half lifted overall sales performance.

Tata Motors recorded Q4 FY26 sales of 1,32,465 units, marking a 25 percent increase from the same period last year. As shown in the table on page 2, this growth reflects improved freight movement and rising customer confidence, making it the highest quarterly performance since Q4 FY21.

March Sales Show Momentum
In March 2026, total sales reached 47,976 units compared to 41,122 units a year earlier, registering 17 percent growth. Domestic commercial vehicle sales stood at 45,825 units, while international business contributed 2,151 units, indicating steady demand across markets.

Growth was seen across key segments including heavy trucks, intermediate and light commercial vehicles, and passenger carriers. For the full year, total commercial vehicle sales rose to 4,28,329 units from 3,76,903 units, driven by product expansion, upgraded safety-compliant truck ranges, and new launches such as Ace Pro and Winger 9S.
Recovery Drives Outlook
Management indicated that after a subdued first half, demand improved significantly in the second half with GST 2.0 rollout supporting momentum. However, geopolitical factors like West Asia tensions and fuel price volatility remain key monitorables, even as the company focuses on resilience and customer-centric solutions. Tata Motors’ FY26 performance reflects a strong recovery cycle, with sustained demand and product innovation positioning the company for continued growth in the commercial vehicle segment.
