Transfer wide receiver named Oklahoma Sooners top newcomer by ESPN
· Yahoo Sports
The Oklahoma Sooners made a splash in the transfer portal when they added former Texas wide receiver Parker Livingstone. As a redshirt freshman in the Longhorns' offense, Livingstone put together a strong season with 29 receptions, 516 yards, and six touchdowns. Livingstone was among a trio of wide receiver additions the Sooners made in the portal, along with Trell Harris and Mackenzie Alleyne. But there are big expectations for the former Longhorn.
Over at ESPN, Billy Tucker picked one newcomer for each SEC team that will have a significant role this fall. For Oklahoma, it was Livingstone. Here's a bit of what he had to say.

Livingstone's 17.8 yards per catch average would have led nearly all Oklahoma receivers last season. At 6-foot-4 and 191 pounds, he will provide a large-frame target for Mateer, particularly in the red zone where the Sooners struggled. His hands and ball skills make him a reliable weapon on the outside, ready to be a new favorite target for Mateer alongside Sategna, significantly elevating Oklahoma's passing game. - Tucker, ESPN
The Sooners made improving the offense a point of emphasis in the portal this offseason, and it's a unit that is projected to improve from their 26.2 points per game, which ranked 79th in the nation in scoring offense. If Livingstone can replicate his production from a year ago or even improve on it, the Sooners will have a more efficient and explosive offense.
Livingstone will be counted on to provide a threat on the outside to take some of the pressure off of Isaiah Sategna in the slot. Livingstone's size and speed will put pressure on defenses downfield and provide quarterback John Mateer with a large target to throw to.
