Tchouameni: “These things can’t happen”

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni talked to the press after Real Madrid’s controversial 0-1 win in Lisbon and shared his thoughts on the Prestianni-Vinicius incident.

“The truth is that it cannot happen. We’ve been told that the boy called him ‘monkey’ with the shirt covering his mouth. Then he says he didn’t say anything, that he said ‘faggots’, but it doesn’t matter. We’ve talked as a team and Vini told us we had to keep playing. I don’t know what to say. We’ll talk. That cannot happen,” said the midfielder.

Team captain Fede Valverde chimed in and offered his own version of the story.

“Nobody knows what he might have said to him. According to all the teammates nearby, they have heard something very ugly. Many people have been fighting over this. Vinicius is one of them. It’s unfortunate that out of so many cameras, it can’t be recorded… If you cover your mouth to say something… We are proud of Vinicius and his great performance. The insult is something very serious. It has happened many times already. As teammates, we have to help and support him. I doubt there isn’t a camera that saw it,” he explained.
