Las Vegas Raiders quietly added key special teams ace in NFL free agency

· Yahoo Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders knew what had to get done this offseason. Last year left too many holes to pretend otherwise, and linebacker was high on the list.

Devin White, Elandon Roberts, and Jamal Adams all hit free agency, so the front office went out and grabbed Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean, two of the better names on the market.

But depth behind them is still sketchy, and it shows up worst on special teams. That unit was a mess in 2025. Big kickoff returns got surrendered, punts got blocked at bad times, and field goals did not go through when they needed to. Tom McMahon lost his job over it under Pete Carroll.

While a bunch of teams loaded up on special teams early, the Raiders made a quieter play on Monday. They are bringing in former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Segun Olubi to help clean up the mess.

“Raiders have signed former Colts free agent LB Segun Olubi.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted.

Raiders’ Segun Olubi addition could fix special teams issues

Olubi was not just another body on special teams in 2025. He put up good numbers. He was one of the few athletes in the NFL to record double-digit tackles and force a fumble on special teams, which is exactly what Las Vegas needs.

Across three seasons in Indianapolis, Olubi racked up 50 tackles while handling heavy special teams work. The Raiders have seen him up close too. He blocked a punt during the Colts’ blowout win over Las Vegas last year, and that play probably stuck with someone in the building.

Now they are banking on his experience and ability to make plays helping turn around a unit that finished near the bottom of the league.
