Borussia Dortmund have officially extended Felix Nmecha’s contract until 2030. The 26-year-old German midfielder’s contract was set to expire in 2028. His new contract increases his salary substantially, making him one of the highest paid players in Dortmund.

This is a relatively short extension, and according to Bild, comes with two release clauses; one of €80 million starting next summer, and another of €70 million in 2028. It will probably only defer transfer rumors for another year or two. But with such a drastic level of upheaval ahead for Dortmund as soon as this summer, it is one less position that Sebastian Kehl and Lars Ricken will need to fill.

For now, the next piece of business is to make a decision on Nico Schlotterbeck. The club will also need to decide at some point what the fate of Karim Adeyemi, Emre Can, Gregor Kobel, and others will be. This transfer window could shape BVB for years to come.
